The Development Initiatives (DEVIN) has been designing programs which aim at reducing the unacceptable unemployment which mostly affect the youths. Most youths of the Niger Delta region are unemployed because they do not possess the requisite and marketable skills which ought to empower them to secure appropriate employment or be self employed. In league with other stakeholders, DEVIN has implemented Vocational skills programmes for clients like the GTZ International Services in Soku (Rivers State) and Oluasisri in Bayelsa State. Beyond direct implementation of Vocational skills acquisition programmes, DEVIN as commissioned by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to carry out a Study on the status of Vocational training programme in the nine (9) States of the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The outcome of the Study supported the design and production of a Regional Master Plan for the development of the region.
