The Development Initiatives (DEVIN) has also been in the vanguard of building the capacity of the Niger Delta people especially (Women and Youths) to engage in sustainable entrepreneurial activities, including business start-up projects. The aim is to support livelihood engagements and improve living standard of the people of the Niger Delta.
Thousands have benefitted from our Business Capacity Building programmes and are today gainfully employed and have gone ahead to become employers of labour with many graduating from one single line of business to diversifying into other businesses. Our Entrepreneurial interventions connect with our micro finance schemes through robust mentoring, coaching and training programmes. Each beneficiary receives tailor fitted interventions which addresses capacity gaps highlighted through entrepreneurial capacity assessments.
As mentioned earlier, till date DEVIN’s enterprise development activities has produced thousands of traders, farmers ( crop and livestock), small scale producers, agro-allied processors etc. For over 5 years, DEVIN carried out enterprise development activities for Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) across its 110 host communities. We also implemented Business Literacy Programmes for communities and groups in several SPDC host communities in Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States.
